For the former Dortmunder Bundesliga Profi Ousmane Dembélé, the door is apparently not closed at the Spanish football top club FC Barcelona.
“We always wanted him to stay and continue with us,” said Barca President Joan Laporta at “Cadena Ser”. Dembélé’s contract runs out in summer, in the past transfer period Barcelona vehement had tried to sell the Frenchman.
“Dembélé knows our offer,” said Laporta: “We hope he thinks again at the end of the season.” On Sunday, Dembélé had set up two goals against Athletic Bilbao at Barcelonas 4: 0 and achieved a hit himself.
The signs were still clearly on separation in January. Because the 24-year-old did not sign the present offer for the contract extension, Football Director Mateeu Alemany had notified that Dembélé “must go immediately because we want committed players.”
This assessment was also coach Xavi, who had also suggested a say goodbye to the wing. Dembélé was changing from Borussia Dortmund to Barcelona in 2017.
