One Piece fans recently didn’t have easy with the WORLD Seeker action game from 2019. The graphic style was not coherent, the fights were boring and the world loveless. In short: World Seeker did not live up to the successful anime and received bad ratings both in the Odyssey test and Metacritic.
That should change with One Piece Odyssey. The impression that this could really work reinforce new information about the combat system and the exploration that comes to the game directly from the official website (translated via WCCFTech).

It was already known that we plunge into round -based fights with Ruffy, Zorro & Co. What is new to it is that we take up to four straw hat pirates in the battle. At least that suggests the screenshots in which we can see a bar with up to four party members on the left:

The fights should follow a scissors-stone paper system , similar to the fights of the classic Pokémon games. Means that the straw hat pirates as well as all opponents have strengths and weaknesses that we have to take into account in the fight. In addition, under certain conditions we can bundle the forces of our pirates (kizuna arts) and thus start an even more powerful attack. All of this brings more tactics into play, which let World Seeker missed.
What fans of the anime should certainly be happy about: During the fights, there will also be cinematic attack scenes (Dramatic Scenes), which could exude some serial feeling and then deliver bonuses.

The unique skills of the crew members are also important in Odyssey. In order to be able to explore the world with its dungeons and solve puzzles, we have to cleverly use their skills. Of course, this means that we use Ruffy’s skills that he received from the Gum Gum devil fruit, or the man’s talent for improvisation by Schiffbauer Franky. With Luffy, Zorro, Nami, Lysop, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Franky and Brook in the playable crew, this should keep the exploration exciting in the long term.

With this new information, our hope is growing that we can expect a one piece game with Odyssey, in which we are happy to travel again with the straw hat band familiar to us. Whether Odyssey can really put the appearance into practice will only be shown in the course of the year, at least if everything goes according to plan. According to the current status, One Pipe Odyssey is to be released in 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
