The 36-year-old will be active globally in important target markets as a representative of German professional football. “It is a very special honor for me to become part of the team – especially now while I’m still active as a professional,” said Podolski, playing at Gornik Zabrze in Poland.
He is very pleased to “represent the Bundesliga in the future and to contribute to the fact that more and more people worldwide are enthusiastic about German football,” said the former Cologne and Munich Bundesliga professional, who between 2004 and 2017 a total of 130 caps (49 goals) completed the German national team and became world champion with this in 2014.
